2011 Health Professionals' Forum: Panel Discussion

 

 

Dr. Heather Keller discusses her research with Dr. Lisa Duizer on evaluating meal options for older adults with swallowing difficulties, focusing currently on pureed foods. They are investigating the sensory appeal of different purees and the nutritional quality. The researchers are also considering the budgetary constraints in food service in long-term care. Thanks to the University of Guelph's SPARK team for creating the video!

Dr. Alison Duncan's presentations set the stage for the 2010 Health Professionals' Forum at the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair in Toronto, ON. The main focus of her presentation was to link agriculture, food and health through discussion of different research projects.

Elaine de Grandpre's presentation highlighted Health Canada's new Nutrition Facts education initiative, and provided insight into how an interactive web-based tool can be used by Canadians to better understand Nutrition Facts panels.
