Seniors Health Research Transfer Network’s Nutrition Community of Practice

October 10, 2010

The Seniors Health Research Transfer Network (SHRTN) has developed a new Nutrition Community of Practice (CoP), which aims to link practitioners together to exchange information and knowledge on topics related to nutrition for older adults. A-HA is a member of the core working group.

The goals of the Nutrition CoP are to:

  1. Link current and future practitioners involved in the nutrition care of older adults.
  2. Promote evidence-based nutrition care for older adults by supporting knowledge exchange among experts, researchers, professional organizations, practitioners, and caregivers.
  3. Disseminate best practices in nutrition care to frontline caregivers.
  4. Stimulate research on food and nutrition issues for older adults.

As the Nutrition CoP develops, membership is expected to expand to include a variety of regulated professionals, caregivers, researchers, and policy makers, reflecting the importance of nutrition on the health of older adults.
