Schlegel Seniors Villages / Living Research Environments

Founder of the RIA, Dr. Ron Schlegel co-owns seven of the long-term care facilities that operate under the Oakwood Retirement Communities Inc. and the Village of Winston Park in Kitchener, Ontario. These eight facilities, soon to be ten, offer a continuum of care from independent living through to long-term care.
The "living research environments" are home to 3,000 residents who all benefit from the culture of research and innovation that the RIA fosters, while contributing beyond the communities they living in to system-wide policy and practice improvement. Materials and information are shared with others providing care to older adults in community and long-term care settings.
