Schlegel Villages / Living Research Environments

Founder of the RIA, Dr. Ron Schlegel and his family own and operate eleven retirement and long-term care homes across Ontario, operating under the Schlegel Villages brand. The Villages offer a continuum of care from independent living through to long-term care.
Also referred to as "living research environments" the Schlegel Villages are home to 3,000 residents who all benefit from the culture of research and innovation that the RIA fosters, while contributing beyond the communities they live in to system-wide policy and practice improvement. Materials and information are shared with others providing care to older adults in community and long-term care settings.
